Self-introduction

My journey to the mountains of Hida has been shaped by three cultures and a lifelong passion for art, history, and human connection.
Originally from China, I spent eight years studying and living in France before moving to Japan in 2018. What began as a new chapter abroad eventually became a new home. Since then, I have lived in Shirakawa-go, where I have immersed myself in the traditions, landscapes, and daily life of one of Japan’s most remarkable villages.
As a graduate of a fine arts school in France, specializing in engraving, oil painting, and video production, I have always been fascinated by the stories hidden behind places, objects, and people. This artistic perspective continues to shape the way I guide. For me, a tour is not simply about visiting famous landmarks—it is about understanding the craftsmanship behind a centuries-old farmhouse, appreciating the harmony between nature and architecture, and discovering the human stories that have shaped a community over generations.
Living in Shirakawa-go has given me the rare opportunity to experience village life throughout the changing seasons and to witness how local traditions continue to thrive in the modern world. Through my work with the Shirakawa-go Tourist Association, I have had the pleasure of welcoming visitors from across the globe and sharing the cultural heritage of the Hida region.
I guide in Mandarin Chinese, English, and French, allowing me to connect with guests from a wide range of backgrounds. Having lived in China, France, and Japan, I understand both the excitement and the challenges of exploring unfamiliar cultures, and I strive to create experiences that are engaging, insightful, and memorable. Whether we are walking through the historic streets of Takayama, exploring the World Heritage village of Shirakawa-go, or discovering lesser-known corners of Hida, my goal is to help you experience this region beyond its beautiful scenery—to understand its spirit, its people, and the traditions that continue to define it today.
I look forward to sharing the Hida region with you through the eyes of a local resident, an artist, and a passionate storyteller.
