I would like to help your Hida trip be more fulfilled. I recommend a half day tour to Hida-Furukawa, or Okuhida Hot-spring Villages area besides Takayama town area. I know good spots you can enjoy with children through my experience, such as day camp sites, catching fish in the river, and private hot-spring baths. Feel free to ask anything if you are planning to visit to Hida. Available only weekdays and daytime (Tuesday-Friday, 8am-16pm) but I will reply to you within 24h.
